Dr Gretta

I am an experienced small animal veterinary practitioner and freelance vet writer in the Sydney region. After graduating from Sydney University with Honours, I began my veterinary career in the year 2000 in rural NSW, working with both large and small animals. I then returned to Sydney to work in small animal private practice in 2001. To further my knowledge, I studied part-time to obtain a Masters in Veterinary Studies over four years, graduating in 2005. I completed my examinations in Small Animal Medicine to achieve Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in 2006. I’ve spent two years living and working abroad in the United Kingdom as a veterinarian as well as volunteering with Vets Beyond Borders in Sikkim, India.

My career as a veterinarian is extremely fulfilling and working with animals has always been a dream of mine, ever since I was at school. I’ve now extended my work into writing for the vet and pet industries and have had my work published in newspapers, magazines as well as contributing to a textbook. My background in theatre inspired me to complete a course in specialty presenting with TV Pro Global to broaden my skills and I subsequently wrote and produced a show reel.

I have been invited as a guest presenter for pharmaceutical companies, carried out radio interviews, been a consultant to a veterinary laboratory and participated in an advertising campaign with a pet nutrition company. My experience as a veterinarian in practice, freelance vet writer and presenter has given me the unique position of being able to offer my combined skills to help businesses in the pet and vet industries.

I am a current member of the Australian Veterinary Association, the Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association and the Australian Veterinary Behaviour Interest Group. I am a supporter of Vets Beyond Borders, Assistance Dogs Australia, Cat Protection Society, International Cat Care, Animal Management in Rural and Remote Indigenous Communities (AMRRIC), Delta Society, Sentient (Veterinarian Institute for Animal Ethics) and Lifeline Community Aid.

So if you require website content, professional commentary, script writing or a veterinary consultant, I am happy to help you achieve what you need.
